How Many Articles Do I Need To Write?

The more articles you write the better and longer lasting your results will be. Because results will vary from niche to niche and from writer to writer it is impossible to give a specific number. A good goal might be to write between 5 – 20 articles a day indefinitely. However I have seen significant results from far less.

Think of it like fishing. If you throw a line in the water every day you are much more likely to catch fish every day. If you throw 10 lines in the water you increase your chances of feeding your family by 10.

It is a matter of testing and seeing what kind of results you get with your first 10 or 20 articles. You can extrapolate from there. In my opinion, the goal of every business owner should be to do the work in the beginning until you accomplish the experience and results you need to outsource the process so that you can expand.

Hey John,

Great articles. Thanks for just giving the facts without a lot of unrealistic hype.

I do have one question for you that I would guess others must be wondering too (surely I am not the ONLY one?! lol)

How in heck do you keep yourself motivated enough to write 5 to 20 articles EVERY day?!

I’ve written many articles now (a few hundred) and doing 20 articles in one week to me was a major achievement (I did that one time). It’s more like 5 articles per week.

I just don’t see how people are writing that volume of quality articles per day. It takes about one hour just to research the materials for 5 articles – I mean that is like 12 minutes per article which seems pretty reasonable.

Then another hour to actually write the articles. Again about 12 minutes per article. Sometimes this does drop down to about 8 minutes so let’s say writing 5 articles with resource box takes 45 minutes (0.75 hours).

Then it takes another 45 minutes just to submit the 5 articles and set up the links and so forth.

So, we’re looking at 2 and 1/2 hours for 5 articles or 30 minutes per article to research, write and submit it.

I don’t know about you but I enjoy writing but article marketing has to be one of the most boring and monotonous things I have ever done. It is very much like working on an assembly line. Over and over and over again.

I cannot imagine someone spending 10 hours per day doing this for 20 articles.

So, how do you keep yourself from getting burnt out… how do you keep it “fun” and keep yourself motivated? Especially when you know you could very well write 5 articles and get only a trickle of 10 unique visitors per day from them?

Hey, I don’t wanna come across as negative. I believe in article marketing as far as it actually working. But my gosh it takes a pile of articles to see any real results and it is just such tedious and boring work.

Hi Brad,

Basically I write my own articles to test a niche and then I outsource the process once I am confident that the ROI is there. I write primarily as a quality control. Though, when I first began I did all the writing. It’s not all that exciting but it sure beats digging ditches. Just poor yourself a cup of coffee, relax, and remind yourself that working on your own terms, at your own pace, is a pretty decent way to make a living… and that it’s not forever if you don’t want it to be.
